Waterjet Familiarization
- Length2 Days
Course Description
Waterjet Propulsion: Operation, Steering & Maneuvering (2-Day with Simulation)
Course Description:
This two-day hands-on course provides mariners with a comprehensive introduction to waterjet propulsion systems, focusing on vessel handling, steering techniques, and advanced maneuvering using jet controls. Through a blend of classroom instruction and simulator-based exercises, participants will gain practical experience in operating waterjet-equipped vessels in various scenarios, including docking, twisting, walking, and holding station.
The course covers system components, fluid dynamics, and the use of combinators, interceptors, and ride control features. Ideal for vessel operators, pilots, and deck officers transitioning to jet-propelled craft, the course emphasizes real-world application and safety through guided simulation practice.
Key Topics Include:
Fundamentals of waterjet propulsion
Steering dynamics and toe-in/toe-out maneuvers
Trim optimization and ride control
Low-speed handling and emergency stops
Simulator-based training for port approaches, crabbing, and vessel positioning
Who Should Attend:
Operators, deck officers, pilots, and crew members working with or transitioning to waterjet-driven vessels.
